Turnarounds/shutdowns/outages are known to be performed as periodic events and MECC’s designated management team plans way ahead of time during which one or more processing/production units are removed from service temporarily. A turnaround can be an overwhelming undertaking if managed as a single, stand-alone event. However, we break it down into various phases with detailed, formal processes in each phase, so that our crew can manage it successfully each and every time. We have successfully handled challenging situations of forced maintenance outages a number of times. This proves our ability to mobilize expeditiously for any demanding turnaround projects.
A large resource base of manpower and equipment allow us to execute challenges in a live plant environment. We believe that the measurement of the shutdown is gauged against the achievement of the goals. Therefore we aim for zero harm, on budget on time, handovers to schedule, proportion of planned work versus unplanned, equipment commissioned to procedure, speed that the plant returns to full rate in-spec production and other useful key performance indicators.
One of our specialized capabilities is to work with plant management from start to finish ensuring a successful relocation of electrical equipment. This requires us to evaluate relocation requirements for equipment that will be relocated, evaluate the new location electrical distribution system for compatibility and provide electrical design including permit drawings as well as disconnection of the machinery at the old location. We ensure that all requirements for re-installation are met then prepare the new location for reinstallation. And in the end we reconnect, set-up & test and look into start up support and verification of equipment operation.
